About NSEJS:
The National Standard Examination in Junior Science (NSEJS) is the first step towards IJSO. It is organized by the Indian Association of Physics Teacher in association with Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE).
This year NSEJS 2018 examination date is 18th November 2018 (10:00 AM - 12:00 Noon) and the last date to apply is 15 Sep 2018.
Students are advised to read the Information Brochure carefully before filling up the application form and regularly visit the official website for latest updates and last minute changes.

NSEJS 2018 Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be eligible to hold an Indian passport.*
- Date of birth between 1 January 2004 and 31 December 2005, both days inclusive.
- Must be residing and studying in India since 30 November 2016 or earlier. OR Must be studying in an Indian school system since 30 November 2016 or
- Must not have completed (or scheduled to complete) class 10 board examination earlier than 30 November 2018.
- Must not be appearing in any of NSEA, NSEB, NSEC or NSEP 2018.
*[The criterion of holding a valid Indian passport is subject to revision in case of further court orders or orders by a competent Government authority with regard to eligibility of OCI card holders.]
NSEJS 2018 Exam Fees: 150/-per student per subject
Syllabus: broadly equivalent to secondary school level (up to and including Class X) of CBSE. All the basic subjects of science (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) and Mathematics may have roughly equal emphasis.
The language of the paper: English & Hindi (on request)
Exam Pattern: Question paper has 80 multiple choice questions. Each question has four alternatives, out of which only one is correct. A correct answer carries 3 marks whereas 1 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.
General Instructions:
- Candidates cannot register online individually. They have to register through the registered centre (any school or college affiliated to state / centre boards can become a centre – read student and teacher brochure for details). The list of registered centres will be published on the IAPT website on 1st September, 2018)
- Parents / students are requested to contact the principal’s of the school in which their ward is studying to register as a centre (there is no fees for centre registration).
- Principals of the registered centres are hereby requested to enrol candidates from other schools, who approach you with necessary fee and help students to appear for the examination.
- Students can go through student brochure for details of examination, eligibility criteria, selection procedure etc. The eligibility criteria announced in the brochure is final and no request for change will be entertained.
- Student registration forms can be downloaded from the website. The filled in form should submitted to the centre- in-charge with the necessary fee before the last date of registration.
- One time registration fee is Rs 150/ per subject.
- Students registering from states other than the state in which they are studying will be considered under the quota of the state of studying. Such students have to furnish Aadhar card and school ID card at the time of examination.
Otherwise , they will be disqualified for appearing for INO (if selected)

- Certificates to “Centre Top 10%” students
- Merit Certificates to “Statewise Top 1%” students
- Merit Certificates and a book prize to “National Top 1%” students
